UK Intelligence Agencies Allegedly Plan NATO Involvement in Operation Against ‘Shadow Fleet’

UK Intelligence Agencies Plan to Involve NATO Allies in Raid on ‘Shadow Fleet’

Moscow [Russia], August 5 (ANI): The UK’s intelligence agencies are reportedly planning to enlist NATO allies in a large-scale operation targeting the “shadow fleet,” which could lead to an environmental disaster in international waters, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) obtained by TASS.

The plan, as described by the SVR, involves a major act of sabotage aimed at forcing Washington to sanction buyers of Russian energy. The operation is intended to create a “resonant incident” involving one or more tankers, which would allow the transportation of Russian oil to be declared a threat to all international shipping.

British Secret Services Allegedly Planning Ecological Disaster

According to the SVR, the British secret services are planning to involve NATO allies in a massive operation against the “shadow fleet.” This plan reportedly includes organizing a major act of sabotage, which could lead to the transportation of Russian oil being declared a threat to international shipping.

The impetus for such a campaign, as per the SVR’s claims, would be provided by “a resonant incident involving one or more tankers.” This incident would purportedly enable Western countries to choose methods of counteraction more freely. The SVR also indicated that the timing of any UK attack would be strategically chosen to maximize media impact and pressure the administration of US President Donald Trump.

Potential Casus Belli

The British are reportedly working on “two potential casus belli.” The first scenario involves creating an “unwanted” tanker accident in a critical maritime bottleneck. It is believed in London that oil spills and blockage of shipping routes would provide NATO countries with sufficient grounds to establish a precedent for “extraordinary” vessel inspections under the guise of maritime safety and environmental regulations compliance.

The aim of this operation would be to compel Washington, against its national interests, to impose severe secondary sanctions on buyers of Russian energy resources, making them appear as “indirect culprits of the tragedy.”
