Ukrainian Intelligence Warns Partners of Russia’s Use of Tankers for Reconnaissance, Sabotage
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has warned partners that Russia is using tankers as part of its “shadow fleet” to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage operations in Europe. This warning comes after the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleg Ivashchenko, reported on the activities of these vessels.
According to Zelensky, Ukrainian intelligence services are actively working with partners to prevent Russia from using these tankers for malicious purposes. The President emphasized that this can be stopped and called on partners to take stronger countermeasures against Russian interference. He also promised to provide all necessary information to support these efforts.
Sanctions and Schemes
The meeting between Zelensky and Ivashchenko also discussed specific tasks regarding sanctions against Russia, particularly which schemes for evading sanctions need to be blocked first. This highlights the ongoing efforts by Ukraine and its partners to counter Russian aggression and prevent further destabilization of Europe.
Disinformation Tactics
Ivashchenko reported to Zelensky on upcoming changes in Russia‘s disinformation tactics, which pose a real threat to Ukraine and its allies. The President instructed Ivashchenko to continue working with partners in areas that can provide Ukraine with more tangible deliveries of necessary weapons and equipment.
UAVs from Tankers
As previously reported by Defense Express, Russia could launch unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) like Gerbera from its shadow fleet tankers, posing a real threat. This highlights the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation between Ukraine and its partners to counter Russian aggression.
