Ukrainian Forces Strike Key Russian Targets in Nighttime Raids
On the night of May 23, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a number of key targets belonging to russian occupying forces. Specifically, strikes hit the Sheskharis oil terminal, the Grushovaya oil transshipment base, and russia’s shadow fleet tanker. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Sheskharis oil terminal is one of russia’s largest oil terminals on the Black Sea and forms part of the Transneft system. Its throughput capacity is up to 75 million tons of oil per year, while its storage capacity is approximately 1.28 million cubic meters. The facility handles the transshipment of oil and petroleum products for export and supports the needs of the russian military.
The Grushovaya oil base was also struck in the same area near Novorossiysk, with a fire reported on the premises. The Grushovaya oil base is a key component of the Sheskharis complex and one of the largest tank farms in southern russia. Its total capacity is approximately 1.2–1.4 million cubic meters. The facility is used for storing, transshipping, and transporting crude oil and petroleum products, including in support of the russian military logistics, according to the General Staff of Ukraine.
Shadow Fleet Tanker Damaged in Strikes
In addition to the strikes on the Sheskharis complex and Grushovaya oil base, Ukrainian forces also targeted russia’s shadow fleet tanker. The CHRYSALIS tanker has been confirmed as having suffered damage in the attacks.
The General Staff statement highlighted the significance of these strikes, noting that they were part of a broader effort to weaken the military and economic potential of russian occupying forces and force the russian federation to end its armed aggression against Ukraine.
